We’re gathering details about a fire at the SPX Manufacturing plant off of Highway 24 in Newport. The Carteret News Times reports two firefighters were transported this afternoon to Carteret General Hospital after being exposed to a chemical while fighting the fire.

Hornell, N.Y. The Eldridges heard terrible news Tuesday evening. Andy and Colleen Eldridge, and their sons Zach, 13, and Jeremy, 12, were hanging out at the home of Terri Ellis, Mrs. Eldridges sister, on Crosby Street when a report of a structure fire came over the scanner.

Members of the Tecumseh Fire Department recently completed the state of Michigan Basic Emergency Medical Technician course. In a news release Thursday, Chief Joe Tuckey said Barb Hammond, Craig Fulton, Kevin Belanger, Tom Richardson and Curtis Maynard will take the written and practical exams to become licensed by the state and the national registry.

WELLINGTON Fire Chief Bob Walker hasnt received official confirmation yet, but said he is excited by the news the fire department will be receiving $32,286 courtesy of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.
